Flown vs Flighty, Flightradar24 and FlightAware
Four good iPhone flight apps that do different jobs. This is what each is best at, so you can pick the right one, or use two. Yes, Flown made this page, so it's built from each app's own App Store listing rather than our opinion of them.
Checked against the UK App Store listings on 6 November 2026. Prices and features change, so check the App Store before you buy.

Choose Flown if…
- you want your whole travel history in one place, free: the map, the countries you've been to, a passport of stamps, your stats and a yearly Wrapped;
- you want live status and your flight on the Lock Screen without paying much for it: Flown Pro is £19.99 a year, and your first flight day is free;
- you fly from the UK or the EU and want to know when a late flight means compensation;
- you like a window seat, and want to know which side to sit on.
Choose Flighty if…
you fly a lot and want the most detailed live tracking there is: delay predictions, where your plane is now, the fastest alerts and an Apple Watch app. Its free version already includes live data, a log of your flights and stats, and Flighty Pro adds much more, at about three times the price of Flown Pro.
Choose Flightradar24 if…
you want to see every plane in the sky on a live map, play back past flights, or point your phone at a plane overhead to find out what it is. It's the plane spotter's app, rather than a log of your own travel.
Choose FlightAware if…
you want free alerts for any flight, from departure and gate changes to delays and diversions, and a live map, and don't mind ads (or pay a little to remove them).
Or use two
They sit happily side by side: Flown for your own trips, the map and the Lock Screen on the day you fly, and Flightradar24 or FlightAware for watching the sky.
Looking for an App in the Air alternative?
App in the Air closed in 2024. Flown covers much of what it did: a log and map of every flight, countries and stats, and live status on the Lock Screen. It can't read App in the Air's export files, so add past flights by flight number and date, or let Flown find them in your calendar.
